Enhance Your Eyes with the Perfect Cat Eye

To create a clean and smooth base for your cat eye, start by tightlining your eyes. This technique involves applying eyeliner in between the lashes to make them appear thicker and fuller at the roots. Next, add a sheer swipe of light, natural eyeshadow on the lids to provide a clean backdrop for the cat eye. Next- see below techniques tailored to your individual eye shape.

Cat Eyes for Wide-Set Eyes:
For those with wide-set eyes, a short wing pointed upward is key to minimizing the widening effect. Apply your eyeliner along the waterline, and extend the line inward at the inner corners of the eyes to create intrigue and balance. This technique helps accentuate the cat-eye look while preventing the eyes from appearing too wide.

Cat Eyes for Close-Set Eyes:
To give close-set eyes an outward extension, create a sleeker, longer, and slightly more horizontal line with your eyeliner. Avoid bringing the liner all the way to the inner corners, and keep the focus outward to open up your eyes.

Cat Eyes for Small Eyes:
For smaller eyes, a smudged line can make the eyes appear larger. Apply eyeliner on the waterline of the top lid, and push the product into the lashes on top of the lids. Smudge out the wing for a smoked-out effect that enlarges the eye area.

Cat Eyes for Hooded Eyes:
Hooded eyes call for a thicker liner. Use your eyeliner to create a bold line, getting under the top lash line and into the waterline for added balance. Smudge the line outward for a sexy, smoky cat eye. Avoid lining the bottom lash line, as it can make the eyes look smaller.

Cat Eyes for Almond Eyes:
To accentuate almond-shaped eyes, keep the eyeliner line thin along the first two-thirds of the eye. Intensify the thickness towards the end, and finish with a semi-dramatic wing. Bring the liner onto the bottom lash line to emphasize the cat-eye shape.

Cat Eyes for Upturned Eyes:
Upturned eyes have a natural lift at the outer corners, making them ideal for a cat eye. Follow the uplifted shape and work the eyeliner outward toward the temple.

Cat Eyes for Downturned Eyes:
Downturned eyes benefit from a cat eye that lifts the outer corners. Apply the eyeliner in a line that points at a 45-degree angle, starting from the middle of the eye and extending outward toward the temple.

Cat Eyes for Monolids:
For monolid eyes, keep the eyeliner as close to the lash line as possible, and go for a thick, elongated wing. This adds definition, shape, and length to the eyes. For a rounder, more doll-like appearance, make the liner thicker in the middle of the eye and shorter at the wing.
